To the left you'll find a picture of an article in today's Sunday Business Post. My letter this week with regard to the Short-comings of Roscommon's Ambulance service, was picked up by the paper on Thursday morning.
The issue of an under resourced or mismanaged ambulance service is one of extreme concern to all the people of Ireland. In 2014 you shouldn't have to worry about whether or not if you have an accident that you will get a timely ambulance response. It's simply unacceptable.
I would like to clarify my position, I have raised this issue as a matter of concern with regard to ambulance response times, and not in relation to the closure of Roscommon A&E which I view as a separate yet equally important issue.
Further investigation I have carried out with regard to the HSE have highlighted serious short-comings in a number of areas. Many of the problems are systemic and a hang-over of the Harney era. The general consensus is that the front-line is under resourced and the administration is top-heavy. I am aware that systemic issues such as this take time to solve, but I for one, would like to see a somewhat greater effort being made by the HSE to redirect more resources to the front-line.
